Notes on this instrument

I bought this instrument at an auction. The auction house had set up an online stream, where, with a thumbnail size video and mediocre audion quality, you could follow the auctioneer. To make things more challenging, I was on the road when this saxophone came up. I parked my car on a parking space along the German freeway, put my headphones on and prayed that I got the numbers in French right. It all worked out quite nicely, and I enjoy playing this Sax tenor very much, after it was restored by Nico Bodewes in Amsterdam.

This is the tenor that I X-rayed in light of my doctoral research:

yes, there are my hands!

During a so called ‘Blended Intensive Programme’ at the Fontys Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Tilburg in 2023, students were able to play on Adolphe Sax saxophones from my collection
