The Andreas van Zoelen collection
This instrument was gifted to me by none other than Dulf Schenkelaars, son of the founder of the company. We became friends after we met at a concert in 2007 where I played the 1881 Buffet alto saxophone from my collection. Dulf sadly passed away in 2018.
The little statue in the last picture in the gallery is built by another dear friend, unfortunately no longer with us, Jacques Merkx. I owe Jacques a lot: he really helped me forward in the beginning of my career as a composer. He sculpted this little figure based on Dulf, playing his alto saxophone.
Below is a documentary film about the construction of a Schenkelaars trumpet. Although not a saxophone, it gives a nice image of the factory and the workmanship. Dulf Schenkelaars handed me this VHS tape around 2010. You can also find my articles written about dutch made saxophones!

I’ve spent years collecting, researching, and preserving saxophones, each with its own unique story. My goal with this website is to make this knowledge publicly available to saxophone lovers and researchers alike. I hope you find as much joy in this collection as I have in creating it.
