The Andreas van Zoelen collection
In the early days of their existence, Schenkelaars imported saxophones from Beaugnier, in Mantes, near Paris, France. These were excellent instruments! The Schenkelaars company was founded in 1928. In 1949 they started manufacturing saxophones themselves. Considering the fact that this saxophone is engraved “Willemstraat”, where the first atelier of Schenkelaars was located, this instrument must be from the early 1930s.
Enclosed is the chapter of my book about saxophone manufacturers in the Netherlands (Dutch).

I’ve spent years collecting, researching, and preserving saxophones, each with its own unique story. My goal with this website is to make this knowledge publicly available to saxophone lovers and researchers alike. I hope you find as much joy in this collection as I have in creating it.
