The Andreas van Zoelen collection
Expertly restored by the talented hands of Nico Bodewes in Amsterdam, this saxophone bears the subtle traces of its past life, once nickel-plated. Remarkably, someone painstakingly removed the nickel plating, a laborious feat, testifying to their dedication. Nico’s masterful restoration work shines through, breathing new life into this instrument.
A delightful anecdote accompanies its history — acquired from a fabric dealer in Paris, it even came with a luxurious piece of fine black velvet, which still serves as a sophisticated shroud during strolls through Parisian exhibitions.

I’ve spent years collecting, researching, and preserving saxophones, each with its own unique story. My goal with this website is to make this knowledge publicly available to saxophone lovers and researchers alike. I hope you find as much joy in this collection as I have in creating it.
