The Andreas van Zoelen collection
I bought this instrument in the early 2000’s for 100 Dutch guilders. It was one of the first instruments in the collection. I originally wanted to use this saxophone to practise my repairing skills. (I once had the brilliant idea of becoming a repairman aside from playing, but things got fairly busy real fast. Maybe for the better; I did some work on this instrument, but I’m afraid it wasn’t really good!)
Van Engelen is one of the many Belgium brands. I still find the fact that this small country had so many saxophone manufacturers intriguing.

I’ve spent years collecting, researching, and preserving saxophones, each with its own unique story. My goal with this website is to make this knowledge publicly available to saxophone lovers and researchers alike. I hope you find as much joy in this collection as I have in creating it.
